Internet Archive WayBack Machine 2002

In the oldest version on the Internet Archive for EOL (using the WayBack Machine), there was strange text (totally irrelevant to modern EOL) that just said “fear.” Why? I would like some answers, please.

Interesting! That is about five years before we owned the domain eol.org. The earliest snapshot I can see that shows evidence of the Encyclopedia of Life initiative is on March 12, 2007, when it contained only a link to an article about that year’s TED prizewinners, including Dr. E.O. Wilson, whose TED talk first publicized the vision of the Encyclopedia of Life.

Internet history is full of surprises!
